Five ways to be tested
Flashcards, adaptive Learn, type-the-answer Write, a timed Match grid, and full mock Tests with marking.
Nimbus schedules every card for the exact moment you are about to forget it. Desktop, offline-first, and genuinely yours.
Nimbus does not invent a learning theory. It implements three that have been replicated for a century.
The scheduler
Nimbus runs SM-2 with a difficulty factor per card. Grade a card and the interval stretches or collapses. The chart below is live - drag the slider and watch the real scheduler respond.
Flashcards, adaptive Learn, type-the-answer Write, a timed Match grid, and full mock Tests with marking.
Drop a block of text and Nimbus splits it on your delimiters, or generates cloze deletions from the sentences you highlight.
photosynthesis - converts light to sugar
mitochondria - produces ATP
ribosome - assembles proteins
Hit your daily card goal to bank the day. Two freeze tokens a month cover the days life gets in the way.
Pomodoro cycles attach to the deck you were in, so your session history is real data rather than a guess.
Everything writes to a local database immediately. Sign in and Nimbus reconciles across machines; stay signed out and nothing leaves the laptop.
Each mode trades comfort for retention differently. Nimbus tells you which one the current deck actually needs, including the one for when you have left it too late.
Classic flip with a four-point grade. Keyboard driven: space to flip, 1 to 4 to grade.
Lowest frictionStarts with multiple choice, promotes to typed recall once you are reliable, demotes the moment you slip.
Best first passType the answer. Fuzzy matching forgives typos and accents, and shows a character-level diff when you miss.
Hardest recallRace the clock pairing terms to definitions. Good for shaking a deck loose when you have gone stale.
Warm upGenerates a mixed paper from the deck, marks it, and tells you which cards cost you the marks.
Exam rehearsalThe mode this page argues against. Tell Nimbus when the exam is and it spaces what time is left, drops cards once you have recalled them, and shows you what will survive the week after.
When the deadline already wonProgress
Nimbus projects your review load forward, flags the cards whose intervals keep collapsing, and shows retention per deck instead of one meaningless global number.
